Confinement loss evaluation based on a multilayer division method in Bragg fibers.
Confinement loss is comprehensively evaluated for TE, TM, and hybrid modes of Bragg fibers using a multilayer division method newly developed. We show the loss dependence on the core radius, wavelength, cladding index contrast, and the number of cladding pairs. The confinement loss is reduced in proportion to (a/b)(2N) and (n(2) (b)b/n(2) (a)a)(2N) for the TE and other three modes, respectively...
متن کاملCompact supercell method based on opposite parity for Bragg fibers.
The supercell- based orthonormal basis method is proposed to investigate the modal properties of the Bragg fibers. A square lattice is constructed by the whole Bragg fiber which is considered as a supercell, and the periodical dielectric structure of the square lattice is decomposed using periodic functions (cosine). The modal electric field is expanded as the sum of the orthonormal set of Herm...
متن کاملA Novel Noise Reduction Method Based on Subspace Division
This article presents a new subspace-based technique for reducing the noise of signals in time-series. In the proposed approach, the signal is initially represented as a data matrix. Then using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), noisy data matrix is divided into signal subspace and noise subspace. In this subspace division, each derivative of the singular values with respect to rank order is u...

متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Index-Guiding Photonic Crystal Fibers with Low Confinement Loss and Ultra-Flattened Dispersion by FDFD Method
In this article, perfectly matched layer (PML) for the boundary treatment and an efficient compact two dimensional finite-difference frequency-domain (2-D FDFD) method were combined to model photonic crystal fibers (PCF). For photonic crystal fibers, if we assume that the propagation constant along the propagation direction is fixed, three-dimensional hybrid guided modes can be calculated by us...
